WC 2018: Iran

Group B

Iran is the first team to have qualified from Asia’s AFC, claiming their spot in the world greatest football tournament in Russia, with a 2-0 victory over Uzbekistan. This team remained unbeaten in 18 qualifying matches across 2 different rounds; however, in the final round, Iran failed to yield a goal across 9 games and finished with a 2-2 draw against their competitors in the Syrian team. This year will be Iran’s fifth WC appearance after the team qualified consecutively for the first time. The Iranians went without a win at the WC 2014 in Brazil, but in the upcoming Cup, coach Carlos Queiroz aims to change the team’s fate for the better by focusing on the knockout stages.

Kit

Iran’s jerseys for the WC 2018 in Russia are designed by Adidas and have been based on the sportswear brand’s team-wear range. The team’s away shirt is based on Adidas’ Condivo 18 template, and is red and white with subtle striping and a sublimated graphic on the front of it. Between Adidas’ logo and the federation crest is also a unique cheetah emblem in a white circle.
